Delaware Man Arrested for Burglary in New Castle County
The Delaware State Police recently announced the arrest of a 36-year-old man from Wilmington, Delaware, for burglary and related charges stemming from several burglaries that occurred throughout New Castle County over the past several months.
On December 3, 2024, troopers responded to Urban Air Trampoline and Adventure Park for a report of a burglary that occurred during the night. The preliminary investigation revealed two suspects pried open the rear doors of the trampoline park, stealing cash and safes from within the business. The suspects then fled in a Ford sedan with the stolen property.
On January 3, 2025, at around 2:00 a.m., troopers responded to a Domino’s Pizza for a report of a burglary. The preliminary investigation revealed that three suspects pried open the rear doors of the Domino’s and stole cash from inside the business. The suspects then fled on foot with the stolen property.
On April 11, 2025, Troop 2 Criminal Investigations Detectives were notified of four burglaries that occurred overnight at several businesses in The Shops at Limestone Hills. The preliminary investigation revealed that two suspects pried open the rear doors of the business and stole cash and safes from within. The suspects then fled in a black minivan with the stolen property.
Through investigative means, police identified one of the suspects from the burglaries. In collaboration with out-of-state law enforcement agencies, detectives discovered the suspects are linked to similar incidents in Maryland and Pennsylvania. Detectives are continuing to investigate these incidents to identify the primary suspect’s coconspirators.
On May 1, 2025, detectives located the suspect in Newark and took him into custody without incident. A search of the suspect led to the discovery of 14.7 grams of crack cocaine. The suspect was taken to Troop 2, where he was charged with the following crimes:
- Burglary 3rd Degree (Felony) – 6 counts
- Wearing a Disguise During the Commission of a Felony (Felony) – 3 counts
- Possession of Controlled Substance Tier 2 Quantity (Felony)
- Possession of Burglar Tools (Felony) – 4 counts
- Theft $1,500 or Greater (Felony) – 3 counts
- Criminal Mischief $5,000 or More (Felony)
- Conspiracy 2nd Degree (Felony) – 6 counts
- Theft Under $1,500 – 2 counts
- Criminal Mischief $1,000 but less than $5,000 – 3 counts
- Criminal Mischief under $1,000
Understanding the crime of burglary
The crime of Burglary can be found in 11 DE Code § 826 (2024). An individual is guilty of Burglary in the First Degree when they knowingly enter or remain unlawfully in an occupied dwelling with the intent to commit a crime therein. Burglary in the First Degree is a Class C felony. It is punishable by a minimum of one year in prison.
